Where BacktestFlow leads
“Practice the challenge before you pay for it.”
Its practice brings firm presets, trailing drawdown and each firm's own daily clock. On paid plans, BacktestFlow measures every limit on equity, open positions included, and locks the first pass or fail with the days it took.
Both tools save every replay trade. BacktestFlow saves the reasoning too. Every close opens a write up with notes, tags, your checklist and screenshots, and the replay waits until it is saved. A screenshot can be taken automatically on close. That record is how you later tell a strategy problem from a discipline problem.
Flow Coach runs 28 analyses across backtest and live journal. It keeps a finding only if it passes a significance check: a 90% Wilson interval and a minimum group of 8. The written report may only quote numbers the engine measured. A pattern that fails its test is not reported at all.
On every plan, BacktestFlow measures how much planned risk to reward you captured, how often targets were hit and how consistent your sizing was. On paid plans it also turns your checklist into a discipline score. BacktestingMax tracks checklist adherence; the full combination is what separates a weak strategy from a weak execution. See the full metric list.
Statistics read in pips as well as R, % and money. Multi hour candles sit on the same 17:00 New York grid as tradingview.com through every daylight saving change. Switching timeframe rebuilds the current candle only from bars already replayed, so no future price shows. BacktestingMax breaks results down by session; it does not document statistics in pips. How manual backtesting works here.
On the Max plan, a slider moves the replay back 1 to 50 candles, with a red line previewing the cut. It is blocked while a position is open, so you can study a move without retrying the trade. BacktestingMax keeps its replay forward only.
Where BacktestingMax leads
If your firm uses trailing drawdown, a minimum number of days or consistency rules, BacktestingMax is the better fit. Its 17 built in challenges cover firms such as FTMO, Topstep and Apex.
If you want rules written in plain English and backtested automatically, BacktestingMax is the better fit. Its AI Chat returns a score, an equity curve and every trade.
If you test stocks, futures or bonds on four synced charts with an economic calendar beside them, BacktestingMax is the better fit. It covers nine asset classes.
