If this is you
Choose TradeZella
You want one journal across several markets, data below one minute, automatic broker syncing, automated rule based testing, or tooling for funded accounts and mentors.
BacktestFlow vs TradeZella
TradeZella and BacktestFlow both replay the chart candle by candle, take orders from a panel and keep a live journal. TradeZella goes wide: five asset classes, 500+ broker imports, data down to the second and automated tests. BacktestFlow goes deep on forex: statistics in pips, a record you cannot skip, and coach findings that must pass a significance check.
TradeZella backtesting
TradeZella offers three ways to backtest. Guided scenarios prefill the symbol and dates and point you to the setup to look for. Manual replay steps through history “candle by candle with a full order panel”. Automated testing takes a strategy you “describe in plain English”: Zella AI parses it into rules and runs them across its history, then reports win rate, profit factor, net P&L, risk metrics and a written verdict, with a trade log behind them.
BacktestFlow does one of those three: manual replay, for forex, in depth. Every close opens a write up and the replay waits until it is saved, so the sample keeps the trades you would rather forget. On paid plans the statistics measure how you executed, not only what the trades returned. If your strategy can be written as exact rules, TradeZella's automated mode answers faster. If it rests on judgment, replaying it by hand is the only honest test, and that is the whole of BacktestFlow.
Side by side
| Feature | TradeZella | BacktestFlow |
|---|---|---|
| Backtesting modes | LeadsThree: guided scenarios, manual replay “candle by candle with a full order panel”, and automated testing where you “describe it in plain English” | Manual replay, candle by candle, where you place every trade yourself |
| Orders in the replay | “A full order panel” in manual replay | Market, stop and limit orders; entry, stop and target dragged on the chart; partial closes; sizing by risk % or by lots |
| Strategy written in plain words | Runs as an automated test across years of data | Describe a strategy in plain words and it becomes a checklist you are measured against; on paid plans, from the strategy form too, or dictated |
| Trade record | Backtested trades land in the journal next to live ones, ready to tag; a required write up before the replay continues is not documented | LeadsEvery close opens a write up with notes, tags, checklist and screenshots, and the replay waits until it is saved. A screenshot can be captured automatically on close |
| Coaching and analysis | Understands Smart Money concepts (SMT divergence, CHoCH, FVG, iFVG, Power of Three, OTE, ADR) and gives an “Edge verdict” | LeadsFlow Coach runs 28 analyses. A finding is kept only if it passes a significance check, and a report may only quote numbers the engine measured. On the Max plan every report, on the others the first per strategy and lens |
| Discipline and behavior metrics | Not documented on its backtesting page | LeadsPlanned against captured R:R, target hit rate and position sizing consistency on every plan; the checklist discipline score on paid plans |
| Forex specific analysis | Forex is one of five asset classes | LeadsStatistics in pips, candles on the DST aware 17:00 New York session grid, and on paid plans, performance by trading session |
| Your own indicator in the replay | Built in Smart Money studies such as FVG and Asian Range; converting your own indicator is not documented | LeadsTradingView Charting Library indicators and drawings, plus built in Session and TDI studies. On the Max plan, a developer rebuilds your Pine Script® indicators by hand |
| Backtest and journal | Backtested trades flow into the same journal as live trades | Kept apart on purpose, on the same statistics engine: one measures the strategy, the other your execution |
| Prop firm support | Prop Firm Sync dashboard for tracking multiple funded accounts | On paid plans, a challenge mode: profit target, daily and max drawdown on equity, open positions included, and a locked Passed or Failed result |
| Analytics reports | Leads“50+ analytics reports”, including Sharpe, Sortino and Calmar ratios | On paid plans, more than 40 metrics in five sections, in R, %, money or pips; on the free plan, the Verdict and Edge sections |
| Markets covered | LeadsFutures, stocks, forex, crypto and options (“5 asset classes”) | 41 instruments on paid plans, forex first: 28 pairs plus metals, energy, the dollar index, four stock indices, BTC and ETH. The free plan has 8 of them |
| History | “11+ years of data” since September 2014 | Forex from 2010 to 2015 depending on pair: GBPUSD and AUDUSD from 2010, EURUSD from 2012. Gold from 2011 |
| Data granularity | LeadsA seconds timeframe that replays price “down to the second”, plus what it describes as tick level accuracy | 1 minute OHLC candles from bid prices; no tick data and no spread modeling. For strategies on 15 minute charts and above, one minute candles are usually enough |
| Several charts at once | Leads“Up to 8 synced charts”, any instruments and timeframes | One instrument per session |
| Broker import | LeadsAuto journaling synced with “500+ brokers” | Entered by hand in the live journal, which keeps its own statistics and Flow Coach reports |
| Mentor and team features | LeadsSession sharing with mentors | Not offered |
Where BacktestFlow leads
“describe it in plain English”
BacktestFlow starts from your words too. A strategy described in plain words becomes a checklist, and every trade you place in the replay is measured against it.
In TradeZella, backtested trades land in the journal, ready to tag later. In BacktestFlow, every close opens a write up with notes, tags, checklist and screenshots, and the replay waits until it is saved. A screenshot can be captured automatically on close. Your sample keeps the trades you would rather forget, which is the point of manual backtesting.
Both products analyze your trades. TradeZella recognizes Smart Money concepts and issues an edge verdict. Flow Coach runs 28 analyses. It keeps a finding only if it passes a significance check: a 90% Wilson interval and a minimum group of 8. A language model then narrates only the numbers the engine measured.
TradeZella's backtesting page names outcome metrics: win rate, profit factor, expectancy, drawdown, Sharpe, Sortino, Calmar. That covers what happened. BacktestFlow adds the why. Every plan measures planned against captured risk to reward, target hit rate and position sizing consistency; paid plans add a checklist discipline score. That is what separates a strategy problem from an execution problem.
Statistics read in pips. Multi hour candles sit on the DST aware 17:00 New York session grid, so H4 candles match tradingview.com. On paid plans, performance breaks down by trading session. The built in Session and TDI studies are available on every replay chart.
In TradeZella, backtested trades flow into the same journal as live ones. BacktestFlow keeps two lenses on one engine. The backtest asks where your edge is; the journal asks whether you execute it. A strategy's numbers are never diluted by live mistakes, and your execution is never flattered by replay.
On the Max plan, a developer rebuilds the Pine Script® indicator you already trade, by hand, and it loads on your replay chart. It behaves like the original, so the replay shows what you see live.
Where TradeZella leads
TradeZella is built journal first, and backtested trades flow in next to live ones. If one place for every trade matters most, TradeZella is the better fit.
Prop Firm Sync tracks several funded accounts in one dashboard. If that is your daily job, TradeZella is the better fit. BacktestFlow's challenge mode is a simulation on historical candles.
Its analysis recognizes SMT divergence, CHoCH and OTE by name. If those concepts are your method, TradeZella is the better fit.

Yes. TradeZella has three backtesting modes: guided scenarios, manual replay candle by candle with an order panel, and automated testing, where Zella AI turns a strategy written in plain English into rules and runs them on its historical data. Backtested trades land in the same journal as live ones.
TradeZella goes wide: five asset classes, broker import, seconds data and automated tests in one journal. BacktestFlow goes deep on forex. Every trade is recorded before the replay moves on, and statistics read in pips. Flow Coach keeps a finding only if it passes a significance check.
It works the other way round. You describe a strategy in plain words and BacktestFlow turns it into a checklist. Then you trade the replay by hand, and every trade is measured against that checklist. TradeZella runs plain English rules as an automated test. The deciding factor is whether your edge can be written as rules.
It measures execution. Planned against captured risk to reward, target hit rate and position sizing consistency are on every plan; the checklist discipline score is on paid plans. None of these appear on TradeZella's backtesting page. The replay waits until each trade is recorded, and statistics read in pips.
