TradeZella vs FX Replay

TradeZella vs FX Replay: journal first or replay first

TradeZella and FX Replay both replay history in the browser, down to seconds, across several markets. TradeZella is journal first: 500+ broker imports, automated tests from plain English, and backtests filed beside live trades. FX Replay is replay first: a prop firm simulator with costs, Monte Carlo and Mentor AI. BacktestFlow goes deep on forex, with backtest and journal kept apart.

The difference that decides it

Where should a backtested trade live?

Both tools let you step through history and trade it by hand. The split is what happens to the trade afterwards.

TradeZella is a journal first. Its backtesting page says “Backtests land in the same journal as your live trades”, and you tag them there. It adds two more ways in: guided scenarios that prefill the symbol and dates, and automated tests from a strategy you “describe it in plain English”.

FX Replay is a replay platform first, built for manual traders who want to practice execution. FXR Journal keeps an automatic log of each trade, and compares the plan with what actually happened across sessions.

BacktestFlow takes a third line: one statistics engine, two lenses kept apart. The backtest asks where your edge is; the live journal asks whether you can execute it. Our TradeZella alternative and FX Replay alternative pages go row by row.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions. About TradeZella, FX Replay, and the differences.

It depends on where you want the trades to end up. TradeZella files backtests in the same journal as live trades and adds automated tests from plain English. FX Replay is built for manual replay practice, with a prop firm simulator that models spreads and commissions, plus Monte Carlo. For forex traded by hand, BacktestFlow measures execution as statistics.

Yes. You describe a strategy in plain English, Zella AI parses it into rules, and the test runs across its history. The page marks automation as beta. BacktestFlow is manual by design: your plain words become a checklist you trade against by hand, and every trade is measured against it.

Yes: FXR Journal. An automatic trade log captures trades, charts and statistics without manual entry, with tags and filters on top. It compares the plan with what actually happened across sessions. TradeZella goes further on live trades, with auto journaling from 500+ brokers.

They do different jobs. FX Replay's Prop Firm Simulator rehearses a challenge on history, with targets, drawdown limits, spreads and commissions. TradeZella's Prop Firm Sync tracks the live funded accounts you already have. BacktestFlow's challenge mode, on paid plans, is a simulation on historical candles. BacktestFlow is not affiliated with any prop firm.

FX Replay goes further back on forex: its FAQ dates major pairs to 2003. TradeZella lists 11+ years, since September 2014. Both replay below one minute. BacktestFlow replays one minute candles, with forex from 2010 to 2015 depending on pair. For strategies on 15 minute charts and above, one minute candles are usually enough.

Both go wide across markets. BacktestFlow goes deep on forex, and keeps backtest and live journal as two lenses on one engine. The replay waits until every trade is recorded. Flow Coach keeps a finding only if it passes a significance check, and every plan measures planned against captured R:R and sizing consistency.
