FX Replay vs Forex Tester

FX Replay vs Forex Tester Online: which to backtest with

FX Replay and Forex Tester Online both run in the browser and simulate prop firm challenges. Forex Tester goes wide on data and method: tick data, up to 10 synced charts, robots, a blind mode. FX Replay centers on manual practice: seconds charts, Mentor AI, Monte Carlo. BacktestFlow goes deep on forex execution: every trade recorded, findings checked for significance.

The difference that decides it

Two browser backtesters, two different bets.

A few years ago this comparison came down to installation: FX Replay ran in the browser and Forex Tester was desktop software. That is no longer true. Forex Tester Online runs in any browser, on desktop and mobile, so the question is what each tool is built to test.

FX Replay describes itself as built for manual traders who want to practice execution rather than run automated scripts. Everything points that way: seconds replay, a journal with on chart review, Mentor AI feedback on your behavior, Monte Carlo and a prop firm simulator.

Forex Tester Online is built around data fidelity and testing method. Its candles are formed from tick data, with spreads, swaps and commissions simulated. It backtests trading robots as well as manual trades, and even portfolios that combine both. It can hide the instrument and dates so you test without bias. Its smallest chart timeframe, though, is one minute.

So the table leans toward Forex Tester Online on data and method, and toward FX Replay below one minute. Where neither leads, it comes down to how you work. Both have a free way in, so you can test the same strategy on each and compare.
