The terms of service, in plain words.

1. Who we are

BacktestFlow is sold by Simone Benetti, VAT number (P.IVA) 04454200249, Via del Cornale 5, 36049 Sovizzo (Vicenza), Italy ("we", "us"). In these terms "the service" means the website at backtestflow.com and the application at app.backtestflow.com. "You" is the person who creates the account.

2. The service

BacktestFlow is a tool for testing trading strategies by hand on historical charts and for keeping a record of the trades you make. It replays past candles, saves the trades you place, computes statistics on them and, on the paid plans, writes reports that describe those statistics.

It is an educational and analysis tool. It does not give investment advice, it does not recommend trades, and nothing it shows is a prediction. Results obtained on historical data are hypothetical: they are produced with hindsight, without the slippage, fees, delays and emotions of a live market, and they do not guarantee any future result. Read the risk disclosurebefore you use the service.

3. Your account

You need to be at least 18 years old. One account is for one person: you can use it on several devices, but you may not share it. Give us a real email address, because it is where we write when something matters (a payment that failed, a change of price, a change of these terms).

The password is yours to keep secret. We store only a one-way hash of it, so nobody at BacktestFlow can read it; if you lose it, the "Forgot password" link sends a reset link that works once and for one hour. Changing or resetting the password signs you out of every other device. If you sign in with Google there is no password: the account is as safe as your Google account, and Google's terms apply to that sign-in.

4. Plans and prices

There are three plans: Free, Pro and Max. What each one includes and what it costs is on the pricing page, which is the price list that applies. Prices are in euro and are the total you pay: nothing is added at checkout. A paid plan is a subscription, monthly or annual; the annual plan is paid once for twelve months.

The Free plan has limits on what you can create (for example the number of strategies and trades). Limits are checked when you create something, never when you read: whatever you already have stays visible whatever plan you are on.

5. Payments and billing

Payments are taken by Stripe, our payment provider. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach our servers; we keep only the identifier of your customer record, the state of your subscription and a log of the payments (amount, date, invoice number). Stripe issues the receipts and the invoices, which you can download at any time from Settings.

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, monthly or annual, on the card on file, until you cancel it. If a payment fails we tell you by email and Stripe retries it over the following days; while it is unpaid the plan stays on, and if it stays unpaid after the retries the subscription is cancelled and the account returns to Free.

If we change a price, we tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal. If you do not agree, cancel before the renewal and nothing more is charged.

6. Changing or cancelling a plan

Upgrading (Free to Pro, Pro to Max, monthly to annual) applies right away. The app shows the amount first: you pay the difference for the rest of the current period, with an invoice for it, and the new limits are on as soon as the payment goes through.

Downgrading is scheduled for the end of the period you already paid for. Until then you keep what you have; then the smaller plan starts. You can cancel a scheduled change any time before it applies.

Cancelling is done from Settings, in a few clicks, including while a charge is being retried. The plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and nothing is charged after that. You can resume it before the period ends. When it ends, the account goes back to Free with everything in place.

While cancelling we may offer fifteen more days before the next charge, as a one time gift on the account: the renewal simply moves fifteen days later, at the same price, and nothing is charged for them. The offer can be taken once. Accepting it, like cancelling, drops a plan change that was scheduled for the end of the period, and you can schedule it again afterwards.

7. Refunds

If BacktestFlow is not what you expected, write to [email protected] within 14 days of your first payment and we refund it in full, on the card you paid with. This applies once per account, to the first payment of a subscription, monthly or annual.

Renewals and plan changes are not refundable: by then you know the product, and you can cancel at any time before a renewal. This does not reduce any right you have as a consumer under the law of your country.

8. Your content

Your strategies, sessions, trades, notes, tags, checklists and screenshots are yours. You give us the permission we need to store them, show them back to you, compute statistics on them and write reports about them, and nothing more. We never sell them, never show them to other users, and never use them to train a model.

Screenshots take space that we pay for as long as they exist. If an account has not been used for a long time, we may delete its screenshots, and only those: we tell you by email and with a notice in the app at least 30 days before, with a way to download them first. Nothing else is ever deleted without your request.

You are responsible for what you upload. Do not upload content you have no right to use, or that contains other people's personal data.

9. Acceptable use

Use the service for your own trading study. Do not scrape it, resell it, share your account, try to get around the limits of your plan, reverse engineer it, or load it with automated traffic. Do not use it to trade on behalf of others or to sell signals or strategies as if the service endorsed them.

10. AI features and Pine Script requests

The Flow Coach reports and the Trader Profile are written by a language model from a numeric summary of your statistics. The summary is what the model receives: numbers, never your notes or your screenshots. The text it writes describes your own numbers; it is analysis, not advice, and it can contain mistakes.

The strategy description and the dictation features send the text or the audio you record to the same provider to draft a description or to transcribe it. The audio is transcribed and not kept; the text you get back is stored with your strategy, where you can edit it.

Pine Script requests, on the Max plan, are a service where we convert an indicator by hand. We tell you when it is done; we do not guarantee a delivery time, and the code we deliver is yours to use. Pine Script is a trademark of TradingView, Inc.; BacktestFlow is not affiliated with TradingView.

11. Availability and changes

We work to keep the service up, and we do not promise a level of uptime. Features change: we add some, we change some, and once in a while we remove one. If a change makes a paid plan worth clearly less, we tell you by email at least 30 days before it happens, and you can cancel before your next renewal.

We can change these terms. Every version has a date; the current one is at the top of this page and in the block at the end. For a change that matters we write to you at least 30 days before it applies. Using the service after that date means you accept the new version.

12. Liability

Trading is risky and the decisions are yours. We are not liable for money you lose trading, whether or not you used the service to test the strategy, and whether or not a report or a statistic turned out to be wrong.

For anything else, our liability towards you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event. We are not liable for indirect losses, lost profits or lost data caused by events outside our control. None of this limits a liability that the law does not allow us to limit, and none of it reduces your rights as a consumer.

13. Ending the agreement

You can stop using the service at any time. To delete the account and everything in it, write to [email protected]from the address of the account; we do it within 30 days and confirm by email. An active subscription is cancelled with it, without a refund of the current period, except under clause 7.

We can close an account that breaks these terms. Unless the breach is serious or repeated, we write first and give you time to fix it. If we close the account for a breach, the current period is not refunded.

14. Law, disputes and versions

These terms are governed by Italian law. Disputes go to the court of Vicenza, Italy, except that if you are a consumer in the European Union you keep the right to bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live, and every protection your national consumer law gives you. Before any of that, write to us: most things are settled in an email.

If a clause of these terms turns out to be invalid, the others stay in force. The English text is the one that applies.
